Pee Wee Paints

I have always enjoyed teaching, especially children, to draw and paint. It is doubly rewarding to teach your own children or grandchildren. The other day my six-year-old granddaughter, Pee Wee (Joy is her real name) asked me if she could try oil painting. I got her set up and she picked out a photo from my reference box.

She is a very good listener and loves to learn. I think she did a fabulous job painting the water. It is hard to believe this painting was done by a six year old. She has some real natural talent--I can't wait to see what she does with it!

Are you sure you didn't do that for her? That is amazing! I can't believe she did that all by herself. Way to go Joy! Keep up the good work. Ya' know your Aunt Rae would love some new artwork! Hmm, I wonder if there is a young aspiring artist available for a commission? Let me know if you know of any.

Would it be possible to see the picture a little bigger? These are kinda small.

WOW!!! I can hardly believe my eyes. I didn't know this level of excellency was possible from a six year old. I wish I could paint as beautifully as Joy. I think she ought to consider giving lessons to adults like me.

Joy, I love picture that you just painted. It is hard to believe that you are just learning to paint. It is beautiful! I am so happy that you have a gramma that wants you to learn more about colors and the many ways that they can make us happy. Thanks Gramma. Joy, I remeber some of the pictures that you drew in preschool and sunday school when you lived in Longview. Dad's right, you have a gift from God. Keep painting.

Joy (Pee Wee), you have a God-given talent and I believe this is just the beginning of something wonderful. Having a grandma who is a terrific artist doesn't hurt. Royal and I are fortunate enough to own one of your early works...an owl. Amazing. We plan to save it and get rich when you become famous. xo
