Dally Up (Red Roper)

Here's the final rendition of Red Roper, which I have now titled Dally Up. This one took way too long to complete! But I'm happy with the outcome. Ropes are difficult for me. I just haven't come up with a way to paint them that I really feel comfortable with.

My next painting will be a very challenging commissioned piece. Hopefully the commissioner will allow me to put it on my blog, so you can see the calisthenics required for an endeavor like this. If it isn't approved for my blog, I will likely start another painting as well, so I can continue blogging.

Mrs. Taylor, wow, you know we love that cowboy! Going to get us a bigger house for more of your pictures. Looking forward to your next commission.

Wow, I love the brilliant colors.. The red and green next to each other are fabulous. Great job Faye. Very nice piece.

Rebecca, thank you for your kind words. "That cowboy" is a terrific subject.

Laura,
Thanks, you know I always like hearing from you. Glad you like it. My next piece is a commission and causes me to work a little differently especially in the drawing and composition. I usually just draw it out loosely using paint right on the canvas. With a commission I have to draw it out on paper in a very exacting manner so the customer can see what I'm doing. It's a little stifling and much slower, but, hey, that's why they pay me the big bucks.

The rope looks good. It looks like rope without being overly detailed.

Bill,
Rope is the hardest thing for me to paint. I appreciate your take on it. Are you done with your horse painting yet?
