Tack Shack 3

I've still got a lot to do on this, but I'm making fine progress. I haven't done much on the building yet, and I'm not sure I like it yet. I've started the tedious work on the saddle. The shirt and hat are about done and the chaps are close.

Tack Shack is simply a working title. After some thought, I've decided to call it "Burnin' Daylight."

I'm loving this painting so far.

It is cool seeing the progress of this piece. I am commenting on this stage of the development because I really like the strong colors of the boards. They are such a beautiful burnt orange at this stage. Three days later you transform them into such soft, subtle "boards". How lovely to see the boards come to life.

Very cool Faye. Thanks for sharing your work.

Hi, Sis, it's good to hear from you. I know you're a busy person. Thanks for taking time to comment.

The burnt orange color is actually yellow ochre and I love the warmth of it too. I always tone my canvases with it before starting a painting. It gives a warmth to the painting and if I should miss a spot, white doesn't show through. In fact, sometimes I get terrific, glowing backgrounds when I use a paper towel to remove paint to let the ochre shine through a little.

Have you seen Ken's YouTube video of me painting? It's time-lapsed, so it's pretty quick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYXuHrKg5r0
I'm hoping to capture my whole next painting this way.
