In the Company of Cowgirls

I just returned from this show in Pendleton, OR to discover that I won the "Hard Twist" Award for Trouble Brewin'! This is an award bestowed by the other artists in the show and I was thrilled to win it. This show was fairly small and took place on Cattle Baron's Weekend. We were all treated to some fabulous entertainment by singer, Juni Fisher, who won the 2010 Wrangler Award for one of her albums.

Kreativ Blogger Award

I have been awarded the Kreativ Blogger Award by Marsha Robinett www.marsharobinett.com/, a watercolorist and pencil artist of the highest caliber. Now it is my turn to pass it on, but first I am supposed to write seven things about myself.

1. I love Jack Russell terriers and have had several over the years. Currently, I have a mother and daughter pair. They are very layed back Jack Russells with very sweet dispositions.
2. My husband, Ken, and I have been married 28+ years and truly enjoy each other's company. He is a nature photographer and one of our favorite things to do is travel around taking photographs of birds and animals.
3. I have three children and eight grandchildren.
4. I have a passion for cowboys and horses but have never lived or worked on a ranch. I have done some horseback riding, but am far from being a horse woman. I just love them.
5. I am a freelance writer as well as artist. I write an art column and feature articles for my local paper and write feature articles for a local magazine. I'm writing a historical fiction novel too.
6. My great, great grandfather was one of the original wild west Texas Rangers. Cool, huh.
7. I love ice cream and popcorn, but not in the same bowl.

I am passing the Kreativ Blogger Award on to:
WR Jones http://onpainting.wordpress.com/. Bill is not only an exquisite painter, but he's funny too. His blogs are hilarious most of the time, but his paintings and drawings are seriously divine.

April News

Bunkhouse Studio is calling all artists for our June show entitled “Fun in the Sun”. Artists can call me for the prospectus at 541-447-5282. There will be a “Munch and Mosey” from 6:00-8:00, June 5th, so mark it on your calendar.

Patty Crumrine and I went to the Cow Palace for the Grand Nat'l Art Show in conjunction with the rodeo. What fun we had and the artwork is top notch! Patty received 3rd place in watercolor and this is an international show.  You can see it on this page.

I will soon be writing an art column, "Faye's Fine Art Focus," for our local paper, the Central Oregonian. The first edition will be May 13th, so keep an eye out for it.

National notice for Faye

I just wanted to let you know how exciting it is to see Faye receiving such good reviews on her art. A national show at Mirror Pond Gallery recognized her work "Storm Rider." It was also featured in Horses in Art magazine.
You can view it at
www.equineartguild.com/~equinevision/winter2007-7.shmtl.

The "EX ARTE EQUINUS International Equine Art Competition" sponsored by HorseArt Magazine selected "Kindly Hand" for a 6th place award. It will be featured in a book with other award winning authors.

Being the "artists husband" can be rewarding. Just to see how happy it makes her is a great reward.
