CM Russell Auction
by Faye Taylor on 3/21/2010 11:25:15 PM

I just got home from the CM Russell Auction. I had a piece entitled "Burnin' Daylight" in the auction. Here's a synopsis of how it went.

The "Ad Club" and the Russell Museum used to do this show together, but this year they split up and both did separate auctions on the same weekend. Most of the artists, because of this split and the bad economy, took a big hit with many bringing only $300 - $500 of which the promoters took 25%!

I fared pretty well considering, and got $1,500 (a little more than half retail) for mine. I might have gotten more if it hadn't been the early lot #25. My piece was bid on by three patrons and finally purchased by Craig Barrett, the CEO of Intel! My sister pointed out, my painting might hang right next to a Howard Terpning or, better yet, a Charlie Russell!

I loved your painting and am glad it's going to have a good home where it is appreciated.
