Gather 6

I can't believe how much time I put into one square inch of canvas! The first 2/3's of this painting went pretty quickly. I try not to get bogged down in detail. But, since this is a commission, I want to get likenesses of the two women.

Long ago, as a fashion illustrator, I learned that when working on small faces, success is accomplished in the tiniest of details. My style is painterly if not impressionistic so my brushes aren't very small. Some of the detail was applied with a dental tool.

Faye, mom and I LOVE this picture. The little dog herding the cattle is a real nice touch. Mom totally digs the mountains and clouds. GOOD JOB!
